Departments¶
The Department tab maps store departments to tax records. Departments help organize store items and apply the correct tax behavior.
Access¶
Navigation path: Settings > Stores > Locations > select a store > Department
Department Fields¶
| Field | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Department Name | Department label, such as Grocery, Hot Food, or Beverages. |
| Department Tax | Tax rate assigned to the department. |
Add A Department¶
- Enter Department Name.
- Select Department Tax.
- Click the plus icon.
Department Tax is required. Create tax records in the Tax tab before creating departments.
Edit Or Delete¶
Existing department rows can be updated or deleted from the Department tab.
How Departments Are Used¶
Departments support item organization and tax configuration. A clean department setup helps store teams keep item management consistent.
Best Practices¶
- Create taxes before departments.
- Use simple department names that match store operations.
- Review departments after major item catalog changes.
